Pride
In The Iliad and The Odyssey, the characters share many similar characteristics.
The two poems have different outlooks on the Olympic gods, the relationship with humanity
and their complicating lives. As an outcome of these contrasts, both poems conclude sending
different messages about existence in general. In The Iliad, the gods are interpreted as pretty
devious, unreliable, and backstabbing; In The Odyssey, the Gods seem a little more kind. Most
of the characters go behind each other’s back and do somethings that are unforgiving. One
theme that both poems share the most is pride.
In The Odyssey one reason someone can discover an intense theme is the reasoning that
