Pricing Strategy
Introduction
The Walt Disney Company was founded as an animation studio by two brothers Walt Disney
and Ray O Disney in 1923. Head-quartered in California, they include four different business
segments; media networks, parks and resorts, studio entertainment, direct-to-consumer and
interactive media (Barnes, 2016). The business segment this pricing strategy is focusing on is
parks and resorts. The main goal of this segment is to bring Disney stories, characters and
franchises to life through their Parks and Resorts. Combined, the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts
in California and Florida attract an estimated 37 million visitors annually with revenues peaking
at $18.4 billion in 2017 (Investor Relations: The Walt Disney Company, 2018).
