When you think of a presentation, in what way do you first visualize that presentation
being executed? One may think of a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, slideshow
presentation, maybe even a video presentation. You may also think of a person pointing to
board with a stick, but how effective is that compared to those previously stated? With
present-day technology, presentations can be amusing, eye-catching, and inspiring.
Graphic aids on a board seem to be close to obsolete, and technological presentations may
just be the standard in any presentation. For example, if a new type of television comes
out, only showing a picture of how it would look like while explaining it, wouldn’t quite
compare to being able to listen to what the audio will sound like, seeing live the picture
and video quality, and the having the full explanation of the television ON the actually
television. The capability that technology has on the visual appearance of things, increases
the reaction of the audience, and convinces them that whatever is being presented is the
best of its kind. In advertising, effects are added to make it more attractive to the buyers.
Even though it is unethical to manipulate the minds of consumers, it is somewhat
expected. For example, in cellular phone commercials, the presentation of that model
shows all the positive features that may have “cool” visual and sound effects appealing to
the watcher’s eye. Consumers would just expect a picture of the new phone, with a
caption. Technology is a very critical factor in a presentation. It shows creativity and
maximum potential of the presented subject. Technology in presentations has no room but
to continue to grow. With present day technology, it should not be a surprise to see if all
presentations in 3D.
