Prejudice in Films A Comparison
Mudbound is a period drama set in the 1940’s revolves around the lives of two Mississippi
farmer families, the McAllans (white) and the Jacksons (black) and how their lives changed
after World War II. The movie sheds light on topics such as economic concerns, rural class
struggle, racism and war heroes dealing with PTSD.
Laura happily lives with her husband Henry McAllan and their two daughters in Memphis.
They later move to a farmhouse with no electricity or running water. Henry’s younger brother
Jamie returns from the war and while serving in Austria he was saved by a black pilot and after
that moment he promised god that he will do something good thus changing his attitude towards
black people. Meanwhile, Ronsel Jackson comes back from the war and notices the attitudes
of people are still the same, who do not appreciate him for his heroic services but discriminates
him on the basis of his colour. Jamie is mentally disturbed by the distress he caused Ronsel,
