Over the past years, there has been a tremendous amount of research pertaining to
predicting mental illness, as well as other psychosocial health conditions. There has been much
improvement and discovery about the topic but there are also still a lot of unknowns. According
to the article, The role of empathy and adult attachment in predicting stigma toward severe and
persistent mental illness and other psychosocial or health conditions”, their research has
concluded that empathy may reduce stigma, in comparison to adult attachment style may
influence empathy (Webb, 2016). Researchers ran many different tests to try and fully
understand what stigma did people have to these types of health conditions.
