I can remember being twelve years old and wishing to be an adult. I thought
when you become and adult everything becomes 10x better. I just knew that when you
become and adult you make money and have total freedom. There would be no more
chores or parents telling me what to do. Best of all I would have my own place and I
could do whatever I wanted.
I would say I had a sheltered childhood. I didn’t grow up stereotypically lacking a
parent, and both my parents have college degrees. So, I grew up middle class and
didn’t have many struggles. I think it’s because I was sheltered, that I underestimated
