We the Country of Guinea have bee face with a problem between our people for a number of years
through our history. As our Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2014, published by the US
Department of State, indicates that domestic violence was committed “frequently” in 2014 (US 25 June
2015, 25). Similarly, in its concluding observations on the seventh and eighth reports presented by the
government of Guinea, the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against
Women (CEDAW) states that it was concerned by the [UN English version] “persisting high prevalence of
violence against women, including domestic violence” (UN 14 Nov. 2014, para. 32(a)). to the United
Nations forbidden by national and international law, female genital mutilation/excision has been
inflicted on girls at a young ages. According to a recent study, 69 percent of women aged 20 to 24 were
excised before the age of 10.The United Nations estimates that 200 million women and girls in the world
have had the procedure. In 2012, the General Assembly designated February 6 of every year as a day to
raise awareness about female genital mutilation and other procedures related to gender discrimination.
