• Rhythm of Speech: Stress-pattern, motion, cadence, tempo, tune
• Pacing: Does their delivery speed remain the same or does it change. Does the change in
tempo keep your interest?
• Beats: A beat is not just tiny unit of time. It can be used to add a dramatic change in one
delivery or heighten the suspense before delivery of the next line.
• Pause: Longer unit of time than a beat. Do you see pauses being used to allow the audience to
react?
• Body Language and movement: Does he or she acknowledge the entire room?
