Executive Summary
Currently, China is the United States’ third top trade partner, accounting for 13.7% of trade as of
February 2021 (United States Census Bureau). The interdependence of the U.S. on Chinese
exports has been highlighted as an issue for the U.S. in recent years. With China’s growing
economy and rising GDP, it has begun to compete with the U.S. on the global stage. The U.S.
has several options to keep China at a distance such as retaliation to China’s 2015 “Made In
