The subject of police brutality is a category of police’s and law enforcement agents’ code
of conduct that can bring a lot of heat and difficulty over a department universally. People
will sometimes have false ideas as to what police brutality is constituted as which can
make a normal everyday apprehension a lot harder in the long run. The subject and
performance of a brutal arrest of a person by a law enforcement agent can bring a lot of
question and doubt upon an individual but many times there may be a reason behind the
act.
The ethics of the law enforcement world is much more scrutinized and watched compared
to that of most other professions and occupations. The police are law enforcement faces
and personalities seen most frequently and customarily by the American public so they are
always questioned when they do something. Police are questioned a lot in particular when
they must take control of a situation and become physical with their subjects. They are not
always put in the easiest of situations to handle but regardless of whether they have an
easy or hard issue to deal with and keep under control they cannot take excessive force
upon an individual.
We are taught at a very young age, “the police are your friend” “they do not want to hurt
you” is what children are typically told by their parents and guardians to show them that
they are not the bad guy. However as some kids grow they become more rebellious,
difficult or more accustomed to commit crime. As they grow in this negative fashion, they
begin to see police and other forms of law enforcement in a different, less friendly light.
Like other criminals they may resist their apprehension from the arresting officer because
they believe they can get away and escape which will cause the officer to then use force.
Depending on the way that the situation is presented to the officer, it will dictate the
amount of force necessary to apprehend such a threat. If an individual comes at an officer
in a way to knock them down or eliminate the threat that they face as an officer of the law,
the officer will use that and exert more force on such subject. However when a person
simply tries to run or make a slight evasion it is necessary to tackle or stop the individual
but it is not permissible to tase a person until they are incapacitated like you would for an
