Planned Parenthood
How does this social problem serve a function in society?
-Planned Parenthood serves a huge function in society. Without Planned Parenthood men,
woman, and children who live in poverty would not be able to afford healthcare. Most Planned
Parenthoods provide HIV testing, so I believe we would see a huge jump in the HIV positive numbers.
They also provide assistance, like Medicare, for those who cannot afford to have the normal pap smears,
regular checkups, or abortions.
How, through words and symbols, is this social problem perpetuated?
-This social problem is continued because there people out there that are really against Planned
Parenthood and all it does for people. They picket in front of abortion clinics to be ‘pro-life’.
Investigators searched for any reason to shut down Planned Parenthoods including forging videos of
Planned Parenthood selling aborted fetus.
How do the “haves” strive to keep the “have nots” from gaining with regard to your social problem?
-The haves will do anything in regard to defunding Planned Parenthood because they do not
want the have nots to have any sort of power or say in their healthcare. The have nots are the ones that
