C&I Final Exam
1. I have used the citizenship NCSS standard a lot in my teaching. I used this standard
through out the lesson plans I made. My Septemeber 11th lesson plan was very much part
of the citizenship standard. I used this standard because it was important for my students
to learn that effect 9/11 had on our society. They needed to understand this event to
become good citizens. I like to use citizenship because I think that it is very important for
students to understand their rights and responsibilities. Citizsenship is also important
because it helps students build relationships with other students and peers. Part of being a
good citizen is learning to work with others and build relationships that are meaningful and
respectiful. I plan on using this standard in the future in most of my lessons. Citizenship
fits into so many aspects of social studies. Part of our job is to teach students not only
how to be a good citizenship but also how to use the skills they have learned. I plan on
having my students work in groups often so that they can learn to work with others, share
opinions and learn to listen and respect other students opinions. These skills will help the
students on the real world too. They need to be ready to work and interact with others
who think differently then the student. They need to understand how to use their skills to
become successful. The second standard I liked to use was the history NCSS standard. I
wasnt able to use it in many of my lesson for C&I, but I used it almost daily in the
classroom. The students were learning about ancient Egypt and China this semester, so
the history standard was an obvious choice. I think that history is one of the most
important standard because without understanding history, students will never fully
understand society today. They need to understand how the events in the past shaped
society today. Every aspect and standards of social studies incorporates history. This
standard will also help students become better citizens. They can study the history of
laws, their rights, foreign relations, and much more. I plan on using the history standard
in the future in many ways. No matter what subject I am teaching, my students will learn
the history of that topic. No one can full grasp a topic or idea without knowing how, why
