Piracy
Piracy is now being considered as an issue, a problem that has to be solved, over the past
decade there have been countless laws passed to help stop piracy such as “Family
Entertainment and Copyright Act” and “Intellectual Property Protection and Courts
Amendments Act” and many more but all attempts have failed so far because there is a
difference between lending and stealing, piracy is not theft.
Piracy is the process of downloading content illegally threw the Internet via P2P, now this
is illegal by law but is it considered theft? The producers, artists, and makers of this
content do know that there work is being pirated but a handful of them don’t mind because
this is free publicity towards there products or content created. Technology is evolving and
won’t stop this means that companies and distributors need to adapt to this new system
because it is pointless to fight this, there will always be someone out there who has a copy
of that content.
It is one of the most argued about subject; opinions on it may vary depending on the
person, company, or organization. Government and corporations are trying to fight piracy
by placing new laws and trying to limit the freedom of the Internet whereas some
organizations are fighting this such as a rebel group called “anonymous.” Then you have
the rest of the population with there own opinions.
