Pilgrim’s Progress: Journey to Heaven
In the beginning of the movie Christians wife says “Don’t do this, Stop telling our kids
these weird stories” He runs away from his family and doesn’t look back. Running away,
turning his back on sin. This decision that Christian has to make is based on his Christian
ethics, that he should pursue righteousness even though others may find it wrong. That
his journey in this movie is can prove that we are on trial that God is not the one on
trial, because we are the one receiving the invitation to enter into His kingdom.
Christian chose to leave his family to pursue righteousness in pursuit Christian wants to
bring his family to know Christ and in the end they receive God’s gift.
Friends will try to take us off our path in life, like the two men trying to stop him from
going on his journey. They tried to convince him from making a fool of himself. Along
Christians journey he was faced with those who didn’t want to see him gain
righteousness through Christ, they wanted him to stay comfortable with sin and the
burden on his back. Same with us in our daily lives, the world, society will tell us that our
sin is okay. Justify pornography, masturbation, drunkenness, abuse of drugs, trying to
“sell” us that it’s okay and right. That seeking after the kingdom of God isn’t what is best
for us. Choosing the right path and make the right choice when faced with ethical
challenges, this leads me to virtue ethics, because it is based on Character and staying
