I’ve always been fascinated by how our bodies work and respond to exercise and the intake of
food. Aer spending a good portion of my teenage years ‘trying’ to eat healthy, exercise and make
health conscious decisions, I realized I was just running in circles and not making any signi#cant changes
to my body or my health. The truth is, I would base everything o% of here say, if I heard somewhere that
wheat bread was good for you I would go implement an abundance of it in my diet, another common
misconception that a lot of teens have is that if you want to get healthy… just eat salads and fruit or
‘meat is unhealthy and makes you fat. ‘I went through that phase as well. It pangs me now to think how I
was lacking such a vital part of my diet, in the form of my macros (ie: protein, carbohydrates and fat).
Last year I was blessed with an amazing opportunity, I was given a free, 1 year membership at a
local gym from a competition. It was very nerve racking at #rst and I felt very intimidated, being
extremely weak, tall and skinny I couldn’t even do one pull-up when I #rst started; I’d blindly follow my
good friend around the gym and just do the exercises he told me (except with awful form).
The only way I can describe the #rst few months of a self conscious, uncon#dent teens journey
into the fitness industry would be to turn o% the lights and try to make out the le.ers etched into the
keys of your keyboard, all you have is a faint glimmer from the /ickering monitor, but not enough to
really have any idea of what to do. But I stuck with it as I just knew the knowledge of nutrition, the
di%erent elements of the human body, the di%erent muscles, the form, and the mind muscle connection
would just become natural and second nature.
At this point while writing this, I feel such a sense of happiness and ful#llment to see how far I’ve
come. By spending my entire summer reading internet articles, browsing forums for #rsthand knowledge
and watching videos of various respected fitness gurus. I’ve ended up garnering quite a knowledgeable
base that I want to share with others and help them reach their goals.
Which I’ve already started to do, I pestered my best friend for months until he #nally joined me
in the gym and aer giving him a plethora of ideas to work with such as intermi.ent fasting, the basics of
