I went to the Hilary Kornblith philosophy discussion yesterday where he had a
presentation on his philosophy and book Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alight.
He was introduced and
first discussed the common sense about reflection. His philosophy was difficult to understand-
but I believe what he was explaining was that we as humans are aware of our temptations- he
used the example of chocolate cake- but we are also aware of the almost equal temptations that
contradict the first- and we are stuck in an almost circular motion between the two. He stated
that we have the temptation to eat chocolate cake, but we also have the temptation to not
eat
the chocolate cake because it is unhealthy. He also talked about the more recent philosophical
thinking about reflection and justified belief where he discussed the more in-depth reasoning
behind this philosophy. Kornblith discussed examples and other philosophers like Laurence
Bonjour, Ernest Sosa, Harry Frankfurt, and Jerry Fodor. As he was wrapping up the discussion I
