The oracle said that there was no one wiser than Socrates. He didn’t believe it because he
is very aware of not being wise in any matter so he thought there was no way he could be the
wisest.
2. What three groups of people did Socrates go to while trying to disprove the Oracle? What does
he find in each case? How is the Oracle ironically confirmed?
He visited politicians, poets and artist. He finds in each case that they’re not wiser than
Socrates, that the artist and poets were bold and obnoxious with the knowledge of their own
fields but knew nothing of the matters of importance. The Oracle is proven true by the fact
because Socrates recognized that he is truly worthless because it’s only god who is truly wise.
