1. What does Meletus say is the nature of Socrates’ wrong beliefs about the Gods? How
does Socrates find this contradictory?
According to Meletus Socrates doesn’t believe in gods. He goes against himself.
He believes in a diamond. You can’t believe in diamond without believing in god.
2. Socrates describes himself as a gadfly. What is he saying about himself?
He is saying that he is the one that makes the city move and stop it from being
unmoving in a bad way. But also, that he knows he is annoying and nagging.
3. Socrates says he has “a certain divine guide.” What does this guide do for him? What does in
NOT do for him?
It guides him away from “what he is about to do” mainly he gives the example of the
voice leading him away from politics and getting involved in them. The voice doesn’t give him
any positive direction.
4. What is the verdict? How does Socrates react to the verdict?
He is convicted and found guilty, but he isn’t surprised. He is surprised by is how narrow
the votes were. which he was convicted.
