Louise and Ian’s Case
In this case the married couple have one major issue that is making their marriage unstable.
Both work with aliens and share this career path and interest. During this work Louise has
experienced radiation poisoning from her contact with these aliens. This poisoning has left
her with problems in relation to conceiving. She was told that without six months of
treatment, any child she conceived would be at risk. The child would more than likely
develop cancer and not live past the age of twenty-five. Ian did not seem to be aware of this
when the two of them conceived a child. Only after the child was born did Louise tell Ian
what was likely to happen to their child and that she had not completed any of the treatment
that she needed. Ian was furious that she had not told him and that she had willingly put a
child through this. This anger and frustration have put their marriage at risk. Louise also
seems to have some knowledge of events that will happen in the future although they are not
