Aristotle defined good life as a happy life, as he believes that happiness is an end in itself. This means
that the good life we should have is really good for us, and in such a way, it suggests that there is a right
plan for living well. So, Yes, Aristotle’s perception of the good life is still standing in the contemporary
world.
The contemporary world suggests that we should be aware of the issues or events happening in our
surroundings. As we could relate to Aristotle’s point of view in the good life, having a good life is linked
to attaining moral and intellectual virtues cultivating good habits.
To elaborate further, we will have the aim for a harmonious relationship to achieve one goal. This goal
that we are talking about is a good life. And to achieve a good life, people should be united and shared
the same belief or purpose. Like fighting for indigenous people’s rights or women‘s rights, we do not aim
for our good but should be good for others. Another is that when we feel exploited or abused by others,
it is human nature to seek help and do things that will protect them from these injustices.
This illustration exemplifies Aristotle’s’ statement about the good life consists of the possession,
throughout a lifetime, of all those things that are good for us. His theory concludes four cardinal values
to have a well-lived life, such as prudence, justice, temperance, and fortitude. Moreover, what is good
for any one of us is in correspondence to the natural needs that are the same for us. In which what is
good for one person is good for another. Also, our choices are the best indication of whether we live our
life well or not.
