PERSUASIVE OUTLINE
I. Attention Step
A. Attention Getter
“What is your definition of a holocaust? Is it a massacre of human beings or a massacre
of innocent beings?”
B. Reason to Listen
1. We must end a useless suffering; we can survive without consuming animals
2. It’s a cruel and unfair thing to do to innocent beings; no such thing as “humane”
3. Our health and environment would be much better off with this change; we are killing
our planet for ourselves and those we share it with (animals)
C. Speaker Credibility
1. I wasn’t raised a vegan or vegetarian, so I understand the sense of changing what’s
“normal” or what’s “tradition” but it’s for a greater cause
2. I have witnessed myself how it’s affected my health for the better and how it’s
benefited a lot of other people as well.
3. I’ve researched this to answer common beliefs that people may have like those who
believe animal products are a necessity for survival.
D. Preview Main Points
1. Animals don’t deserve mistreatment & we don’t need animals
2. Solution
3. What the world will be like with/without the proposed solution
II. Need Step
Grado 2
A. Illustration: There are about 53 billion land animals killed not counting animals that go
through other types of cruelty worldwide and as we speak. It isn’t just killing either, it is
torture where they are hung, burned, dismembered, amongst other things while they’re
alive
B. Ramification:
1. “Humans are born herbivores” Gary Yourofski (Humanedecisions.com)
2. Animals are in horrible living situations and are used every bit until
they no longer can handle in which they still kill them and use them for their final
“purpose” which is for meat. (Peta.org)
3. Strings of amino acids is what makes up protein and plants have all essential amino
acids.. To build and maintain muscle you also need carbohydrates which are primarily
found in plants as well. (Gamechangersmovie.com)
4. People with a plant based diet are researched to get 70% more protein needed, than do
meat eaters who barely get enough and most of the protein they do get is primarily 50%
from the plants they’ve consumed. (Gamechangersmovie.com)
5. Animals consume 6x more protein than what they produce (Gamechangersmovie.com)
6. Meat, dairy, egg, and fish farming take up 83% of the world’s farmland, meanwhile
they only provide 18% of the world’s calories… this causes deforestation
(Gamechangersmovie.com)
7. There is also an overuse of freshwater to maintain these farmlands and animals which
is the reason why 25% of rivers in the world no longer reach the ocean… 1 hamburger is
2,400 liters of embedded water. (Gamechangersmovie.com)
Grado 3
8. Heart disease is a high risk that many meat eaters face, also other diseases such as
many types of cancer, osteoporosis, cholesterol, etc.
C. Pointing:
1. Don’t make excuses for someone else’s suffering just because you don’t see it
2. Be aware of all the negative effects a simple taste has on your health and the
environment as well.
3. It’s not too late to change your lifestyle and not just save someone’s life and bettering
it in a healthy way, but saving millions of lives of animals who are slaughtered (the more
customers the industries loose, the less they’ll produce)
TRANSITION: Now that you have some insight in all the wrongs presented, I’ll tell you how I
