1. ONE SUCCESSFUL PERSUASIVE ENCOUNTER
Narration of the encounter:
My dad wanted me to shift schools. He wanted me to apply in NYU after the first
academic year. However, I didn’t want that. My dad wanted me to shift because he
thought that NYU was better and one of our close relatives went there too so he wanted
me to apply there. At first, I said I will try but later after the first semester I didn’t want
that anymore because I got familiar with my current school and I had friends there now
and also because it would be far from home. So, I explained to my dad that if I apply and
get accepted, I will shift which is going to be hard on me. The new place would be new to
me and I live in my uncle’s house in Jamaica but if I go to NYU, I would have to take the
train everyday which is like 2 hours going and coming. Also, I could shift to dorms, but
my dad wouldn’t let me. So my dad suggested that I could rent an apartment. Then I told
my dad that renting apartment alone would be every expensive. So then after listening to
me he understood that it would be stressful for me and then agreed with me. Therefore, I
didn’t apply to NYU.
