My fascination with the field of Information Systems and technology started almost as a hobby.
Despite the fact that my father isn’t an Engineer, Engineering was something that I always
considered. Thankfully though, my parents allowed me to pursue whatever field I wanted and
they gave me the leeway to dabble in many things before choosing Engineering. As early as I
could remember, I have been fascinated with how things work and how computer appliances are
powered. I still am baffled at times when I see and understand the intricate connections that make
a device unique. It is this fascination that has led me to choose Computer Engineering as my first
degree, and I have never for one day regretted this decision. Frankly, I could not see myself
doing anything else, and it is this zeal that has spurred me on to push further and widen my
horizon to be the best engineer that I can become.
There is no gainsaying that the world we live in today relies heavily on computer technology,
and it is an honor for me to be a part of this world changing phenomenon. Unfortunately though,
some parts of the world despite their desire to become involved in this revolution do not have the
wherewithal to benefit from it. My country, Nigeria, is one of those countries. My aim is to
eventually obtain a masters degree in Information Systems and Technology, and make use of this
knowledge in leading the present generation in helping to push my country in the right direction.
To accomplish this, one needs to attain a certain level of training needed as well as the research
that comes with it. For me, reaching this place starts with getting my master degree in
Information Systems and Technology. Research I believe also plays a major role in this
achievement. Despite the relative lack of resources that plague some educational institutions in
this side of the world, I actively sought out ways to enrich myself, and become adept in the field
of research. While I have not attained that height yet, one thing I know is that I am most certainly
on my way to achieving it. Again, a master’s degree with an emphasis on research will help me
attain this reachable goal. One of the research projects that I partook in school is dear to my heart
because my team ended saving the school a lot of money rather than employing outside
organizations to do the job. While improvements have been made, the accomplishment we
achieved is still the backbone by which the systems run. This gives me great pride, and it shows
that I have the wherewithal to improve myself, change the world and be the best I can be in this
