Imagine being raised in a small town in California surrounded by individuals
who were more comfortable living a simple routine. Not to mention, also being
raised with a lot of scrutiny as the daughter of a bishop. I consistently found myself
wanting more out of life than just resting in this comfort zone. For as long as I can
remember, I have always faced challenges head on, and at eighteen years old, chose
to leave a comfortable lifestyle and chase a life where I would be able to create and
manage. I moved to Oregon and studied Business Management and Economics at
Oregon State University. While it was challenging, I persevered because I knew that
my dreams were within reach. Facing this challenge made me realize who I am. I
have the aptitude for diverse, innovative ideas resulting in significant goals that an
education at Hampton University could turn into reality.
I am studying to become an sports manager with a focus on the basketball
industry. Basketball is an essential aspect of many cultures in the world, and it is my
passion to organize, manage and be a part of the final product. I also aspire to open a
spa dedicated to helping young men and women who suffer from acne. While
enduring years of dermatologist visits and trying to hide my blemishes, I enrolled
into Beauty College to gain a better understanding of the condition and how to
effectively treat it. It was my determination to understand aesthetics that drove me
to want to help others by opening a spa.
In accompaniment with my career goals, the University of Miami is a
spectacular school to push my limits, amplify my skills and assist in my ultimate
success. The marketing program at UM is just remarkable. With the course study
and the structure of the program, students are allowed to think different, think
smart and think ahead. University of Miami has many opportunities that other
schools don’t that show the beginning of new innovative techniques that will allow
business students to go beyond today’s norm. With alumni such as Leslie Jones
