INTRODUCTION
Building and maintaining a positive relationship inside the classroom is a very
important aspect in creating a positive learning environment for you and your students. I
believe that each student is a unique individual who needs to be in a stable, nurturing, and
stimulating atmosphere where they can grow and mature. It is my desire as an educator
to help them to achieve all their goals by providing them with resources inside and
outside of the classroom. I am a currently a high school science teacher at Tubman
Education Center Alternative School located in Richmond County. The mission of
Tubman Education Center is to provide a place for new beginnings for all students
through positive learning experiences. The mission statement of the school goes hand
and hand with my teaching philosophy.
My relationship with each of my students is a mother-like figure with her child.
A mother encourages, guides, is dependable, provides protection and provides support.
My students know that regardless of how angry they may make me and how disappointed
I may become with them, that I am devoted to providing them with the best educational
support and learning environment possible. They are also aware that I will do whatever it
takes to help them succeed, but I will not do it for them. They will work hard and I will
not allow them to fail. Nothing in this world is free and unfortunately everyone does not
care, so when you find someone that supports you and guides you, you should do your
best to make them happy like you would do with your mother. This is how my students
view me.
