My personal goal is to start eating healthy. Not necessarily a diet, but to eventually
change my entire eating “lifestyle” into one that is healthy for me both inside and out. During my
search I came across multiple sources on how to eat healthy. I started my search by using
Google. My first two sources were found on the Internet. I googled health food blogs, in order to
help see that healthy food does not necessarily have to be boring and flavorless. Also, I enjoy
cooking new recipes, but am not able to come up with any on my own so this was an easy way
for me to find a way to make healthy meals at home. One of the blogs is titled Sprouted Kitchen.
In many of her recipes she uses natural ingredients that are whole grain, healthy fats, natural
sugar alternatives, as well as seasonal produce. The second blog I found is specifically vegan
recipes. Oh She Glows: Glow from the Inside Out is written by a woman on a plant based food
diet, who also keeps her meals free of gluten, soy and processed foods as well.
My next set of resources is published books. One I had already owned and the other I
came across in my local library. The first book I found is titled Eat Pretty: Nutrition for Beauty
Inside and Out by Jolene Hart. In this book, Jolene Hart gives user-friendly explanations on
many “health food” related words such as antioxidants, biotin, and omega-3s. Jolene Hart also
explains the dietary and beauty benefits of a wide range of everyday foods. Not only does Jolene
Hart talk about eating to be healthy but she also touches on subjects such as stress management
and hormonal balance. I found Jolene Harts book to very user friendly, especially as a beginner,
with her charts and lists, as well as the multiple recipes she included in the book.
The second book I found was called Raw Challenge by Lisa Montgomery. This book is a
thirty day program that claims to help you lose weight as well as improve your diet and health
