Pearl Harbor by Michael Bay
The movie began in 1941; those were hard times in the world because it was the beginning
of World War II. In the movie there were two best friends, Rafe and Danny; they were air
pilots of USA´s Navy. Rafe, the older one, first knew a nurse called Evelyn and they fell in
love but Rave who was asked to join the Navy on England to helps the British that on the
time they were fighting against Hitler´s army on Europe so on he has to go there and leave
Evelyn alone in USA. Evelyn and Danny were assigned to Pearl Harbor, a special Navy
base located in Miami. This could be called the exposition of the film, where we meet the
three principal characters, what they do, how they are and how is the world where they are
living in, in their case, Navy pilots of USA.
Evelyn as nurse and Danny as a pilot, they continue their lives normally, but one
day, Danny its been told that Rafe lost his life due an aircraft combat, it changes everything
in their life’s and through the time they ended together.
One day, Danny received a letter from Rafe, saying that he is alive and he is going
to come back to Pear Harbor, this changes everything around them. So, at the time he came
back, Rafe realized that his old girlfriend has just forgotten him and started a relationship
with his all-time-friend, Danny.
The relationship between The United States and Japan was unstable, the Japanese
wanted to expend across Asia but the USA´s government did not let them did such thing,
also, the United States who was Japan´s supplier of oil, stopped supply Japan by making an
embargo. The Japanese did not giving in to The United States so the Japanese prepare an
attack in attempt to destroy USA´s Navy.
The Japanese prepared the attack for several months; they knew that surprise was
going to be the key factor among success or failure. They began their journey in Etorofu
Island and traveled through 3,000 miles journey across the Pacific Ocean carrying aircrafts,
destroyers, battleships, heavy cruisers and submarines.
The United States was going to enter into the war anyway, but on the morning of
December 7, 1941, the Japanese launched an air attack to the USA Navy Base Pearl Harbor
in Hawaii. The attack last over 2 hours, it is estimated that 2,400 Americans lost their lives,
21 army ships were sunk or damaged and around 190 USA´s aircrafts were destroyed.
