Health care is a very controversial topic due to an increasing disconnect between medical
costs and patient needs. Consumers are very wary of medical plans that they feel are driven by
cost rather than need or availability. Couple this to the increase in direct marketing by drug and
medical suppliers to consumers, there is more pressure for patients to demand practices and
products with limited understanding of their true benefits. Heath care providers are under
pressure to increase their market share by attracting and retaining more clients. This has created
the problem of an increase of ineffective treatments being prescribed putting clinicians in an
ethical dilemma of being forced to practice without competency or integrity. They Synergy
Model and Lewin’s Theory of Planned Change are two nurse care models that can remediate this
