Torture is a loaded word that conjures scary images of horror in an individual’s mind, both
physical and mental. It inflicts severe injury and damage on the victim. Torture has been
around since the times of Ancient Greece and is still around today. Punishments aren’t near
as harsh as they used to be back in medieval times. Nowadays, jail is the most used legal
way of punishment in society.
Torture is defines as the intentional use of physical or physiological pain to gain advantage
over an individual. People in society today have become more familiar with torture.
Torture may be imposed on an individual for some purposeful reasons either good or bad.
It often casts the victims in a situation, easy to identify, and therefore see eye to eye, with.
In my opinion, the more an individual is able to inflict torture on another, the stronger the
later becomes in having flashbacks of such sorrowful acts.
The more an author is able to create a personal connection to torture, the stronger their
argument becomes. Strong emotions create a more appealing argument for an everyday
audience. If any living thing undergoes or witnesses torture, it has the tendency to keep
flashbacks of such horrible events. Elephants for example are termed one of the animals
having these high remembrance instincts of past events.
