While observing and participating in my daughter’s class I noticed a few leadership models
being used throughout the day. The most noteworthy model would have to be the transformational
model. The idea of the transformational model is to empower followers and nurture a change in them
(Northouse, 199). In the class it is obvious that the teacher is modeling the way that she expects her
students to behave by being compassionate and patient with each of her students. It even had an
influence on me because while I was helping her with various task throughout the day I modeled my
interactions with her students to match her to help reinforce the behavior that she is trying to foster in
her students. Another way that she modeled compassion is when she lead the class in prayer she
started by asking all of her students if they had someone they wanted to pray for, and focused on the
selfless prayers that showed compassion and consideration of others. Not only did she model the way
