This was a correlational study, done to study the effect of estrogen therapy in women that have
gone through menopause and the cognitive effects this therapy can provide. This study was done at
Tulane University on the cognitive benefits of estrogen therapy, or more specifically a drug, called
17[sz]-estradiol, in postmenopausal women. In the study they were seeking to prove the existence of
the small window of time in which a woman has gone through menopause, yet her ERa or estrogen
receptor alpha have not yet been loss. ERa are critical receptors in the process that make estrogen
therapy successful. Without ERa this study claims to prove that the body becomes insensitive to the
estrogen hormones being released in therapy, making them no longer useful. In conclusion, the editors
