“Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge”
Ambrose Bierce’s, “Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge”, was difficult to grasp my
attention. I had to read it through multiple times to understand what was going on. After doing
so, it shocked me that right in the beginning, a man is being planned to be hung. Even though it
is expected because it is the Civil War era, it is still disturbing and cruel to imagine that type of
punishment. This man tried to destroy a very important federal bridge without even thinking
about how it might affect himself, and his family with his selfish actions. I guess it was only
right in this time-period to hang him, but there is such thing as morals, and a right from wrong,
