Ovarian cancer (OC) diagnosis has one of the most complicated screening procedures than
most other types of cancer. The screening for ovarian cancer (OC) or epithelial ovarian
cancer (EOC) can increase mortality rate because it involves the use of surgical techniques.
Although ovarian cancer is relatively rare compared to other types of cancer, its mortality
rate is approximately 57% of diagnosed women with 43% survival rate. It affects women
of all reproductive ages with many diagnosed in the late stages of the disease. Women
diagnosed with late stage epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) have a lower risk of survival and
a prognosis of fewer than five years after diagnosis. This cancer affects approximately
22,000 women each year with 192,000 new cases emerging globally yearly (Dayl et.al,
2016).
In addition, screening of ovarian cancer is discouraged because most techniques used are
invasive, and not effective in preventing EOC and might be life threatening. The inability
to screen for ovarian cancer makes prevention and early detection of EOC Limited. As a
result, most studies focused on identifying factors that increase susceptibility to EOC such
as endometriosis disorder, polycystic ovary syndrome, infertility, etc. However, for this
paper, the primary focus is on the influence of endometriosis. Studies have linked
endometriosis and infertility in women as some of the causal factors for ovarian cancer.
Endometriosis is a chronic, inflammatory, estrogen-dependent disease. It affects
