1. How would you describe the culture “clashes” in the film, Outsourced, using some of
the cultural artifacts, you observed- values, symbols, rituals, norms?
The movie outsourced revolves around an American manager who is sent to India to train
his replacement. The movie shows a lot of these instances where work is disrupted due to
the cultural differences.
Values – The employees show a strong connection towards their family, when asked by
Todd what would motivate them and help them work better most of them are seen bringing
in family pictures. This shows their highly collective nature and their close bonding with
their family. Which is not the same seen in the American culture. Another instance is
observed in the excerpt, where Todd tries to hold on to Asha’s hand but she refrains as they
can’t be seen holding hands with a man. Also when she tells him that she has been engaged
