This particular case discusses the events that occurred during the ascent to Mount
Everest in 1996. Many different expeditions set out to climb Everest that year, including
two of the largest commercial ones. Rob Hall and Scott Fischer led these two
expeditions. Each expedition included well-determined clients that wished to be guided
to the top of the mountain. These clients were told specific rules that they had to obey in
order to successfully complete the task.
On March 31, 1996 the two groups embarked on their journey in Kathmandu,
Nepal. The teams were set to reach four different camps, each camp located higher on
