Mid-Term Exam Spring 2020
Q: 1 Diversity is a two way sword, do you agree? In Your country like
Pakistan, how diversity can be managed to take the maximum advantage in
organizations.
Answer
Yes, I agree that diversity is a two way sword because of the following reasons:
• Because diversity represents the individual differences and similarities that exist among
all human beings. The variety of experiences and perspective which arise from
differences in age, gender, race, culture, religion, mental or physical abilities, sexual
orientation, gender identity and other characteristics.
• Because it would take a minute to contemplate that double-edged sword. On the one
hand our diversity is what makes us exciting, beautiful, complex, wondrous and never
boring. Our differences weave a rich tapestry within our families, with our friends,
within our communities and countries and without question, across the entire spectrum
of our planet.
• Because diversity is a group characteristic, not an individual characteristic. Diversity
refers to the variety of observable and unobservable similarities. Effective diversity
management increase an organization’s access to the widest possible of skills, abilities
and ideas.
In our country like Pakistan, diversity can be managed through the process and programs
by which managers make everyone more aware of and sensitive to the needs and differences
of others in organizations.
• Managers must work to develop strategies, to develop ways, to utilize differences, to
achieve work outcomes.
