From reading the article in the case study of Deckers corporation forecasting, it can be
observed that mathematical models are used by Deckers to forecast the seasonal market for its
footwear. Demand is projected for its broad retail clients and for its online store by using
historical evidence and past trends and considering the prevailing economic activity and
customer behavior. These forecasts are very important as they are the driving force for many
other decisions that will be made including things such as inventory, production preparation and
the procurement of materials. It is therefore obviously very important for Deckers to have
