Operations Management W1
The four key challenges in operation management that managers need to
understand are technology, globalization, consumer standards, and workers
expectations. Technology has been one of the most important influences on the growth
and development of operation management during the second half of the 20th century.
Microprocessors have become ubiquitous in most consumer products and industrial
processes. Advanced in design and fabrication of goods as well as advances in
information technology to enhance services have provided the ability to develop
products that one could only dream of a few decades ago. They also enable managers
to more effectively manage and control extremely complex operations.
