Online Shopping from China to Singapore: Transportation Analysis
Abstract
Chinas online shopping market grows extremely fast, most of the people surf internet in
China got the experience of online Shipping, it’s convenience, low price, and reliability
created a large number of ‘cyber shopaholic’, the significant advantage of online shopping
even attracts Chinese in foreign countries; they also purchase goods direct ly from China
website, international transshipment involved in this activity, which makes online
shopping more complex with higher expense, how does the purchaser and transportation
agent overcome this problem? Based on my online purchase experience, this article takes
Singapore buyers as study objective, to analysis the intermodal transportation involved
during purchase goods from China via internet.

Online shopping or online retailing is a new form of shopping concept, it’s a form of
electronic commerce which allows consumers to directly buy goods, information,
resources or services from a seller over the Internet using a web browser.

1. B2C: An online shop evokes the physical analogy of buying products or services at a
bricks-and-mortar retailer or shopping center; the process is called business-to- consumer
(B2C) online shopping.
2. B2B: In the case where a business buys from another business, the process is called
business-to-business (B2B) online shopping. The largest of these online retailing
corporations are eBay and Amazon.com, both based in the United States.
3. C2C: Consumer to consumer electronic commerce involves the electronically facilitated
transactions between consumers through some third party.
II. Pros and Cons of Online Shopping
Compare with traditional shopping method, online shopping got several advantages;
1. Convenience No matter at work, at home, or even travelling outside, as long as
consumers have Internet access they can visit the website to purchase goods; the interface
of online shopping can be personal computer, Tablet PC, Smartphone or even public
computer; most of the online shopping websites are serving 24-7, you can easily place an
order in midnight, there is no business hours limitation.
On the contrary, visiting a conventional retail store requires consumers to pay a visit to the
store, and must take note of business hours.
2. Price Online store no need to maintain a physical stall, less investment lead to a better
price.
