Aileen “Lee” Carol Wuornos was born February 29, 1958 in Rochester,
Michigan to Diane Wuornos and Dale Pittman, and later adopted by her
maternal grandparents, Lauri and Britta Wuornos, on March 08, 1960. She
was a little over two years old, along with her brother, after her father went
to prison for child molestation and kidnapping and her mother abandon
Aileen and her brother. Her grandfather was an abusive man verbally,
physically and mentally and her grandmother was a bad alcoholic. Her
grandfather beat Aileen often. At the age of 11 years old Aileen traded
sexual favors for money, beer, and cigarettes. Aileen was raped by a friend
of her grandfathers at 14 years old and became pregnant as a result of the
