Of Mice and Men
A major theme that lingers throughout the novel, Of Mice and Men, is loneliness. One
definition of the word loneliness is “sadness because one has no friends or company.” (Merriam-
Webster). This definition holds true to three main characters on the ranch and is identified
through the emotions and actions they show throughout the novel. In John Steinbeck’s novel, Of
