Introduction
All organizations must make frequent decisions of sustainability and impact of their
business on the environment. These decisions can be made on a small scale of neighborhoods
and cities to the much larger scale of the global impact. While these decisions are often guided
by the effect on revenues and income, ethical obligations must also weigh in on the matter. Some
companies like Patagonia and New Belgium Brewing Company choose to weigh in more on their
ethical obligations to the planet while other companies such as Wells Fargo and many oil
companies have failed to meet society’s ethical standards. These standards are also known as
Corporate Social Responsibility and are more accurately defined as “the obligation of an
organization to serve the interests of multiple stakeholders, including society at large.”
