Nutrition and Disease Prevention
Nutrition is a very interesting topic, there is a lot to learn and many ways to better
yourself and prepare your body for a healthy lifestyle. I’m going to talk about the things I
have learned that have stuck out to me the most and how I’ll apply these things to my
daily living.
Let’s start with Carbohydrates and Fiber. There are simple carbs and complex
carbs. Simple carbs (sodas, candy, high fructose corn syrup) are the sugars that digest the
fastest which results in a spike of blood sugar. These foods are also known as high
glycemic foods. It is best to limit the amount of simple carbs that you intake because high
amounts can lead to an increased risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.
