No Match for a Divine King
Have you ever heard of the saying, “they’ve gone mad with power”? Some view it
as an individual who has become narcissistic and withholds so much power that they
begin to lose themselves. Others believe it is simply a flaw stemmed from greed, wealth,
fame, or when an individual has high authority over others. I believe this is the very
case for the infamous King Ahab, a King within the Ancient Near East with a quest to
obtain a very specific vineyard within the book and chapter of 1 Kings 21. With power
comes responsibility, and without it, comes devastation. Despite a king’s status within
his kingdom, one must not forget to model themselves after God’s upside-down
kingdom by serving others and valuing everyone. Just as we are expected to obey the
law of man, we also need to remind ourselves, as the people of God, that we are under
