Catalog Description:
Focuses on the time value of money, budgeting, use of credit, investing, taxation of personal
income and assets, types of insurance and risk management, health care planning, investing,
and retirement planning.
Expected Outcomes for Students:
Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:
1. relate interest rates to credit cost;
2. describe the proper use of credit;
3. create an individual and family budget;
4. establish an individual investment plan;
5. define the major types of insurance;
6. contrast various classes of investments;
7. discuss advantages/disadvantages of renting versus owning a home;
8. describe how income and other forms of taxation affect financial plans
9. demonstrate knowledge of major financial planning terms
