1. After reviewing both strategies, which company do you believe will dominate global
soccer in the long term? Why?
After reading strategies by both companies, I believe they both have attributes that will see them
success for years to come. However, if I am to pick one, I would actually lean towards the
prevalence of Nike to dominate global soccer products. Nike has a long running history of
customer satisfaction and brand loyalty. All the advertisement in the world doesn’t compete with
the loyalty of customers. By giving out free products, holding free clinics, and setting up an
interactive park, Nike has established themselves to the people as a soccer brand, more than they
would if they simply hosted the World Cup. I believe that this type of brand recognition and
customer loyalty will push Nike to be more successful in the long term.
2. What recommendations would you make for each company to improve its competitive
strategy in this arena?
Adidas should also focus on the expansion of their product line into fan gear. Adidas has put a lot
of effort into securing the World Cup tournaments, keeping Nike away, and brand development
through technology, I feel that Adidas would greatly benefit from giving back to the fans of the
sport. By introducing fan gear of the different teams, Adidas could enhance their profits and
develop more customer loyalty for the brand. In contrast to Adidas, Nike has focused their
strategies on customer satisfaction and brand loyalty through satisfaction. Nike has centered their
efforts on making it easier for the fans and customers to enjoy the sport they love through their
brand. To improve Nike’s strategy, I think they need to work on obtaining sponsorship to future
