INTRODUCTION (5 Points)
NIBCO located in Elkhart, Indiana. It is a privately held midsized manufacturer of valves
and pipe fittings. It has more than 3000 employees and annual revenues of $461 million. It
was go-live on December 30, 1997.
In early 1995, NIBCO’s cross-functional team developed a strategic plan and reengineering
supply chains, because the current system does not meet business need. Boston Consulting
Group conducted the strategic plan study.
In July, 1996, purchase of SAP R/3 and big bang implementation approved by executive
Leadership Team (ELT). A contract signed with SAP R/3 modules and IBM as
implementation partner. Wilson, Beutler and Davis form triad leadership team. In late 1996,
project team selection complete and begin preparation phase. The final project scope and
resource presented to ELT and boarder direct.
In 1997, users training beginning at NIBCO headquarters and remote sites, and its go live at
the end of 1997.

Current information system could not meet customers’ need, because most major IT
