In the last 20 years, our presidents have included, Bill Clinton, George W Bush, Barack Obama,
and Donald Trump. Out of these former presidents to include or former president, many pardons
has been put into place, with Clinton being the president who granted the most pardons thus far.
After researching on different pardons from presidents only one stuck out to me that I disagree
with which was the Joseph Michael Arpaio pardon on the contempt of the court. President
Trump decided to pardon this charge because of his reasoning that he “kept Arizona safe”, which
in my opinion is totally stupid. The one does wrong, and does wrong by the law of the court, they
should be sentenced just the way everyone else does, regardless of their class, previous career,
affiliations, etc.
When it comes to pardons from governors, there are literally hundreds and thousands of them
done often – it is truthful to go through all of them. Usually when governors grant pardons they
are for smaller issues rather than the larger ones. From the ones that I have come across, I do not
have any which looked unreasonable. As far as the question of whether or not presidents and
governors should be able to grant pardons, I say yes. If the president is the only individual who
can do so, what happens if the president himself needs a pardon? He cannot simply just grant it
himself. This is where the governors come into place.
