Culture, the accumulation of history, is the symbol and spirit of a country. It is significant to
every citizen because culture can shape people’s characteristics and their national pride.
Furthermore, cultural value will also have an impact on how people doing their business. For
this reason, we cannot ignore the power of culture. New Zealand is a country has national
solidarity. Every New Zealander live in a harmonious atmosphere and they are eager to make
their natural environment become better and better. This paper will talk about the culture of
New Zealand.
After doing research of New Zealand, there are 3 three cultural values and traditions that I
believe that may affect doing business. Firstly, New Zealanders are all environmentally friendly.
Since the first inhabitants arrived, protecting the environment and maintaining the ecological
balance are the symbols of each New Zealander. They are bound up in developing the
environment. Even the businessmen won’t break that rule for higher profits. If someone hands
in a project that may do harm to the environment of New Zealand, they will definitely be
rejected. Secondly, New Zealanders are very honest, direct and demonstrative. However, they
do not like people acting too forward and overly friendly. Compared to China, if two
businessmen meet at the business function, they will act like they are good friends even they
are not really familiar with each other. But when it comes to New Zealanders, people may lose
a chance to cooperate with them. Last but not least is the culture about negotiations in New
Zealand. The businessmen in New Zealand always look for value for their money and they focus
on what people ‘can do’ not what they said they ‘can do’. When people try to negotiate with
