Assessed Essay – Nestle
Globalisation is the process by which businesses or other organizations
develop international influence or start operating on an international scale.
Nestle has contributed to increased globalisation, firstly, by having over
400 operations including factories, distribution centres, offices and
laboratories in nearly 200 countries around the world. Like this, it employs
339000 people, which will have more disposable income to spend on
business which will have a greater profit and will pay a higher tax.
Therefore, the government have more money to improve their country
making their economy emerge and attracting external investors to build
their businesses on those countries leading to increased globalisation.
However, from the migration point of view, this people employed might
not necessarily be from other countries, and would just be people that
already leaved in the country, therefore Nestle is not really contributing to
globalisation.
On the other hand, it may be argued that the massive invest (65 million
pounds in Poland) is not necessarily invested on employees but on
machinery. This can be proved as they invested 65 million pounds but only
created 200 jobs, which is a very small amount compared with such a big
invest. This might mean that Nestle really invests on machinery rather than
on jobs. As a result of this, nestle is not considered to be contributing to
globalisation as it is not employing people from different countries.
However, it still employs 200 people and probably from different countries
increasing globalisation.
